Beautiful, long hair is possible - thanks to the wide variety of extensions on the market today.

There are clip-ins, halo-style and tape-in extensions, as we learned about at Beauty Boutique.

This week we spoke to Alene Gibson, co-owner of A&B Hair Studio, to discuss another option when it comes to adding length and fullness to your mane.

Gibson has applied SoCap fusion extensions for the past 12 years. She said that when a client comes into the salon for a consultation they order hair to match the color and length they desire.

"We also talk about how to take care of them and price," she said. SoCap extensions are placed in the hair almost strand-by-strand using a heated fusion application. Gibson explained it takes anywhere from two to four hours to apply the extensions.

Clients can expect their extensions to last six to 12 months. "To make them last and look good they need to use a good shampoo and conditioner, brush them daily and put their hair into a low ponytail or braid at night," Gibson said.

Although ladies will occasionally get extensions before a wedding or big event, that is not always the case. "Because they last so long most people don't get extensions just for a special event - most of the time they are wanting to grow out their hair and want that length and fullness," she said.

The starting price for extensions is $750.

A&B Hair Studio, located at 1025-B West Main Street in Lebanon, opened in June 2013. Gibson owns the salon with Brandin Petry. Gibson has been a stylist for 23 years. She formerly worked at one of the top ten salons in Miami and has worked on photo shoots and traveled to style bridal parties at destination weddings.

"I enjoy what I do because of the people I meet. I like that when a client leaves they feel good about themselves and are happy with the way they look."
