Chemical peels are a relatively quick way to achieve brighter, more even-toned skin.
Aesthetician Kristi Lett of The Lett Center, with offices in Lebanon and Mt. Juliet, spoke to The Wilson Post about two of their most popular chemical peel offers.
The VI peel is designed for all skin types and can correct discoloration, wrinkles, improve tone and texture and reduce pore size. Lett explained that it is a TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel which is not uncomfortable on the skin, as some people assume peels to be.
"It is predictably and not painful. The VI peel is nice for patients who are just beginning," she said.
Lett blocks off 30 minutes for VI peel appointments, but the actual procedure takes anywhere from 11-15 minutes, including cleansing and prepping the skin.
Patients should be prepared for one week of skin recovery. "Usually you don't peel until day 2 and by one week your skin is back to normal," Lett said.
The second peel is the Jessner, which has all of the benefits of the VI peel - plus improves acne and corrects sun damage.
Like the VI peel, the Jessner takes less than 30 minutes and downtime is 7 days. "It is not uncomfortable but there is a prickly, tingling sensation," she added.
For maximum results, both peels are recommended in a series of 4-6.
"I recommend a consultation where we discuss what they are trying to accomplish, their lifestyle and budget," Lett said. "Talking with the patient is key."
The VI peel is $200, while the Jessner is much less expensive at $75. In the month of January The Lett Center is offering 30 percent off peels.
