From now until Dec. 31, Sports Village Fitness in Lebanon is offering 50 percent off initiation fees for new members who donate a coat.
"This time of year it gets so cold, and we are just trying to help people who are in need out," said Sports Village Fitness General Manager Jan Rubins.
Sports Village will accept new or gently used coats in men's, women's and children's sizes.
Rubins said that after the coats are collected, they will select an organization to donate them to.
New members will save anywhere from $75-125 off their joining fee - and get two free fitness assessments for joining.
Sports Village offers personal training, group exercise classes, such as yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, Zumba and Boot Camp, has indoor and outdoor track and pools and child care and camps for youth are available.
Those who are planning to join Sports Village to work off pounds for their New Year's Resolution are encouraged to take advantage of the current deal - while also helping the needy.
"Right now we know that people are going through the holidays and are probably eating too much. With the New Year comes New Year's Resolutions to get in shape or lose weight. They often look to local facilities to join," he said. "We would love for people to get ahead of the curve and join us now."
Any new member or returning alumni are available to receive 50 percent off initiation fee, according to Rubins. Current members are not eligible for the discount.
