LHS boys place 3rd in Gatlinburg

GATLINBURG -- Lebanon High's Blue Devils wrapped up the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule with a sparking 8-3 mark following a third place finish in the inaugural Smokey Mountain Christmas Classic at Rocky Top Sports World.

Coach Jim McDowell's club managed to grind out a tough 41-38 decision over off Sevier County in Saturday's (Dec. 20) consolation game.

The Blue Devils trailed 36-33 headed into the fourth quarter, but out-scored the Smokey Bears 8-2 in the final eight minutes.

"It wasn't pretty," said Coach McDowell said, "but we gutted it out when it mattered. We had to scrap every possession."

KeShawn Abston led the Blue Devils with nine points. Tay Jackson, Cameron Oliver, Drake Allen and Donovan Blair each had six points. Paul Tribble and Noah Mulaski had four points apiece.

LHS went 9-of-14 at the free throw line.

Knox Carter 92, Lebanon 81
Lebanon dropped a 92-81 decision to Class AA power Carter in Friday's semifinal round of the Smokey Mountain Christmas Classic.

Eleven Blue Devil 3-pointers wasn't enough to keep pace with Carter who got 39 points from Jordan Brown and 28 from Kelvin Jackson.

Abston led Lebanon with 20 points, Allen had 18, Kobe Neuble 15 and Jackson 14.

Carter marched to the free throw line 32 times, connecting on 19 while Lebanon hit four of six attempts at the charity stripe.

Lebanon 71, Ooltewah 45
Kolbe Neuble scored 18 points off the bench to help lift Lebanon to a 71-45 victory over Ooltewah Thursday, Dec. 18 in the opening round of the Smokey Mountain Christmas Classic at Rocky Top Sports World. Jackson chipped in with 16 and Allen 12.

Devilettes lose to Knox Halls
GATLINBURG -- Lebanon High's Devilettes fell to 3-8 on the season following a 42-34 loss to Knox Halls in Saturday's consolation round of the the inaugural Smokey Mountain Christmas Classic at Rocky Top Sports World.

LHS led 15-13 at intermission, only to see Halls go on a 16-7 third quarter run.

Ireland Elie led Lebanon with 11 points while Jameka Dowell had eight.

As a team, Lebanon was 1-of-10 from beyond the 3-point line and just 9-of-22 at the free throw line.

Livingston 50, Lebanon 26
Livingston Academy pinned a 50-26 loss on Lebanon in Friday's second round of the Smokey Mountain Christmas Classic.

Bailey Sells led the Devilettes with seven points, Alanna Clemmons had six, Elie five and Morgan Bruce four.

Sparta's Sonic Shoot-Out
Lebanon's boys and girls will participate in the seventh annual Sonic Shoot-Out beginning Saturday at White County High in Sparta.

The Devilettes will play Macon County Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The LHS boys will take on Pickett County Saturday at 3 p.m.

Admission $6 per day or $15 for a tournament pass.
