1st Lt. Joshua Hovies, 26

He was assigned to Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, where he was training to apply to the Air Forces elite USAF Pararescuers (PJs). A graduate of Auburn University where he was in the ROTC, Lt. Hovies was in his second year with the USAF, having served in Turkey and S. Korea. Born in Bellingham, WA, he spent his early years in Thailand where his parents served as Southern Baptist missionaries.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday at FBC, Lebanon.

An Eagle Scout with Lebanon's Troop 302, he leaves behind his parents Tom and Alicia Hovies; brother USMC 2nd Lt. Benjamin (Savannah) Hovies, sister Mary Beth (Colin) Kappel and grandparents Al and Nancy Kent.

He is preceded in death by grandparents Floyd and Dorothy Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one of the following organizations: Special Operations Warrior Foundation or Tennessee Right to Life - Wilson County Chapter

Wilson County Funeral Home and Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.
