The second annual Maddie's Dash 5K and Children's One-Mile Costume Fun run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29 at College Hills Church of Christ in Lebanon.

The annual event will be held in honor of Maddie Whitlock, a Mt. Juliet-area toddler who received a liver transplant almost one year ago. She is now a thriving one-year-old.

The event also includes a silent auction, and this year, Maddie's family and friends are hosting the event to raise funds to help other local families with transplant-related expenses. Due to strong community support, last year's dash was a "huge success," according to organizers, raising over $50,000.

The registration cost for the 5K is $40 and $20 ford children who take part in the one-mile fun run. Organizers say the event will also include plenty of Halloween candy for the kids. To register, visit To donate items for the silent auction or to help sponsor the event, businesses may contact Rachel Artley at

"The family and friends of Maddie Whitlock want to encourage everyone in the community to attend our upcoming 5K in an effort to help raise funds for other families facing the overwhelming burden of transplant expenses," said event chair Jessica Robinson. "One hundred percent of the profits from Maddie's Dash will assist with transplant-related expenses."
