LEBANON -- Daniel Holmes tossed a complete game two-hitter leading Lebanon High to a 2-0 win over Portland Tuesday night at Brent Foster Field.
Holmes (4-0) dominated Panther hitters, striking out 11 and walking just one as the Blue Devils moved to 10-4 on the season and 2-0 in District 9-AAA.
Lebanon scored a run in the second as sophomore Jonathan Presley rifled a one-out single into right, scoring Dalton Squires who had reached on a double.
Presley's safety squeeze in the fourth scored Lathon Whittington from second for the game's final run.
Adam Montgomery and Brady Estes each had singles for the Blue Devils.
Wilson Central 4, Beech 2 (8 innings)
SHACKLE ISLAND -- Wilson Central scratched out a pair of runs in the top of the eighth to post a 4-2 win over Beech Tuesday night at Buccaneer Field.
Wilson Central (8-8, 3-0) broke the game open with a walk, single and an error to begin the eighth, setting the stage for DH Andrew Franklin's two-run single.
Franklin went 3-for-4 with two singles and a double, driving in all four of Wilson Central's runs, including a sixth inning groundout that scored Cole Ferguson to tie the contest at 2-2.
Travis Smart and Ethan Shelton each had three hits as the Wildcats overcame a tremendous pitching effort by Buc junior Ian McWilliams, who struck out 12 in seven innings of work.
Central's Ryan Hill went the distance for the win, striking out six and scattering seven hits in eight innings of work.
Wilson Central is scheduled to play at Gallatin Thursday, April 7. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at David Alexander Field in the Gallatin Municipal Parl.
Hendersonville 5, Mt. Juliet 0
HENDERSONVILLE -- Will Wacaser (3-1) tossed a complete-game four-hitter leading Hendersonville to a 5-0 win over Mt. Juliet Tuesday at Drakes Creek Park. An Austin Peay signee, Wacaser shut the Bears down, striking out five and issuing one walk. Tyler Brown had two hits for Mt. Juliet.
With the loss, Mt. Juliet slipped to 11-5 overall and 2-2 District 9-AAA while HHS improved to 11-3 overall, 2-1.
Ethan Smith (3-1) gave up just three hits and three earned runs while striking out seven in his first loss of the season.
Mt. Juliet committed three errors and standed 10 baserunners.
The Golden Bears will be back in action Friday in Knoxville at the DeMarini Diamond Classic. MJHS is scheduled to play Centerville, Ohio in a 5:30 p.m. game at CAK.
