By Angel Kane Summer is in full swing and the ladies of Wilson Living Magazine are staying very busy this summer. This past Saturday, Becky and I were honored to be the featured speakers at the Al Menah Shriner’s 2010 Ladies Luncheon hosted by Kathy Wantland of Lebanon. Kathy’s husband, David Wantaland is the Pontentate of the Nashville Shriner’s organization and as the Pontentate’s wife, Kathy was in charge of this year’s women’s luncheon. Kathy and many of her friends, put on a wonderful event titled “A Day of Friendship & Chocolate.” She invited Becky and I to come and share our “Telling Tales” columns with the 200 ladies in attendance. All proceeds of the event benefited the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. The Shriners run 22 hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care and research at no cost to their patients and their family. We were honored that she asked us to be part of such a worthy event. The Nashville Al Menah Shriner’s organization began over 42 years ago and there are now over 186,000 Shriners in North America. The Shriners take an active part in civic affairs throughout middle Tennessee and are committed to helping those in their community.
