When you receive your notice, if you have a question or want to appeal the value, contact our office. The Property Assessor’s office is your first line of appeal. Contact us at or you can call us at 444-8661 or come by our office. We will try and help you in any way we can. If not, we can set up an appointment for you to go to the County Board of Equalization which meets in June. To appeal, you must contact our office prior to June.

Residential property values are generated by looking at comparable sales in your area from 2010. For commercial property owners, we look at comparable sales and income generated from the property. For the first time in recent history, the state-mandated reappraisal will lower values on approximately 68 percent of the 53,293 total parcels of real property in Wilson County. 

Under state law (T.C.A. 67-5-1701) the State Board of Equalization will issue a certified tax rate to the county which will create the same revenue from the previous year.  The Wilson County Commission will then set the final tax rate later this year, and tax bills will be issued in October.  The Assessor’s office does not set the tax rate or send property tax bills.

When elected, I promised an open door policy and a fair and accurate appraisal.  Your Assessor’s office must work within the guidelines of state law, but we work for the taxpayers of Wilson County. It is an honor and privilege to serve as your Assessor of Property.
