A Lebanon woman was arrested Monday by Metro Nashville Police and charged with attempted child abuse, a felony.Julie Ann Hardin of Callis Road, Lebanon, was arrested Feb. 19 by Nashville Police, suspected of tampering with her 4-year-old son’s IV in an attempt to harm the child. She was charged then with felony aggravated assault.
Hardin allegedly tried to inject saline into her child’s IV line while he was a patient at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. She was freed on the initial charge on $7,500 bond.
Authorities began investigating the case after staff at the hospital notified police about issues related to the condition of Hardin’s chronically ill son. A search warrant was obtained for the child’s hospital room and in an interview with Hardin, authorities said she admitted to attempting to tamper with her son’s IV for the purpose of harming him.
Hardin is in the Metro Jail under a $75,000 bond.
