JACKSON -- Funeral services were held Monday morning, January 5 at the Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home in Madison County for Mrs. Dyer, 82, of Lebanon. She died Jan. 2, 2009 at Quality Care Nursing Home in Lebanon.

Born in Jackson, she attended Pinson School and Chester County High School.

Before retiring, she worked as a nurses’ aide at Jackson-Madison County Hospital and performed private duty work. She was affiliated with the Church of God.

Services were conducted by the Reverend Aubrey James. Interment in Hollywood Cemetery.

Survivors include children: Brenda (Bedford) Kellow and Lorna Camille (Steve) Howell -- all of Lebanon, Glenda Claudette (Danny) Adkins of Hendersonville and Carl Michael Dyer of Jackson; seven grandchildren, and nine great, grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by parents Carl and Flora Parrot Grissom, the father of her children Claude Elbert Dyer, brothers Robert Grissom, James Grissom, and Kenneth Grissom, baby brother Glenn Grissom, sister Evelyn Jones, and baby sister Juanita Grissom.

Pallbearers: Lee Adkins, David Roberts, Ken Grissom, Steven Harris, Aaron Dyer and Jason Dyer.  Honorary Pallbearers: Bedford Kellow, Danny Adkins, and Steve Howell.
