Annual Kiwanis Easter Sunrise Service slated

The community is invited to celebrate Easter on April 20 with the annual Kiwanis Club of Lebanon’s Sunrise Service on the Lebanon Public Square.

The service, which will include live music and speakers Stephen Manley, pastor of Cross Style Church, and John Hunn, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, is set to begin at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. Coordinator Sean Patrick said he anticipates 500 guests to attend the service, which has been held on the Square for the past four years.

“The Kiwanis Club has had this sunrise service for over 70 years. When it was started, it was for Kiwanis members, their guests and families,” he explained. “We decided to expand it and put it in the heart of the city. People think of it as ‘their service.’ There are over 150 churches in Wilson County and of course, there are differing views – but the one thing all churches agree on is He is risen.”

Parker added, “People are unified in it.”

In case of rain, the event will be moved inside to the Capitol Theatre.

Preceding the event is a concert on Saturday evening. The Rhett Walker Band will perform on the Square beginning at 6 p.m. Families are invited to attend, free-of-charge; however, hamburgers and hotdogs will be available for purchase.
