Gei two-hits LebanonMT. JULIET -- Marshall Gei hurled a complete game two-hitter Tuesday night as Mt. Juliet blanked District 9AAA rival Lebanon High 7-0. Gei (4-0), a righthanded junior, struck out nine with no walks. He allowed only a second inning bunt single to Connor Harris and a seventh inning single to Jack McKeon.
Mt. Juliet pushed across an unearned run in the first, then got a two-run double in the second from Cody Carr. Robby Amity went 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Bears, who improved to 13-7 overall and 4-1 in the district.
Dillon Hulse (1-2) started and took the loss for Lebanon, lasted five innings, scattering eight hits, striking out seven with three walks.
The Blue Devils slipped to 5-9 overall, 2-2 in the district. Tonight's rematch is set for 7 p.m. at Brent Foster Field.
Tigers pound Gordonsville WATERTOWN -- Colin Jennings spun a five-inning, three-hitter Tuesday as Watertown run-ruled Gordonsville 11-1 at Three Forks Park. The soph struck out five without issuing a walk.
Robert Caruthers drilled a walk-off, two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth -- giving him four RBI in the game. Dusty Meador and Tanner Rowland each had three RBI and Rowland knocked in three runs. Justin Johnson and Ben Bain each had two hits for the Purple Tigers.
Watertown improved to 5-7 overall, 3-2 in District 8A with the win and is scheduled to host Red Boiling Springs today (Wednesday) in a 4:30 p.m. game at Three Forks Park.
