You can learn a lot about someone by the way in which they play a game. My husband and I both come from families that enjoy playing games during get togethers.
Cumberland University’s tennis teams are in Lexington, Ky., for the Wilson / ITA Southeast Regional Championships Thursday through Saturday.
The event is being hosted by Georgetown College.The Bulldogs have six men’s and four women’s players taking part in the event, including top-seeded Natalia Yakimovic, who finished last season ranked 10th nationally in singles.Beatriz Mompo, who ended last year ranked 25th in the country, is the third seed in the singles event. Both players drew first-round byes.
Emily Jacobs and Amber Johnson are the other two women’s players in the field for coach Bill Riddle.
Sebastian Jonsson, Roger Phantanak, Eduardo Miquelino, Felipe Oliviera, Kody Horne and Johannes Johnson will all participate in both singles and doubles for the men.
The four first round women’s doubles will begin at 8 a.m. ET Thursday along with four men’s doubles matches. The other four men’s doubles matches will begin as soon as courts open.
There will be two men’s and two women’s singles matches each on Thursday. Men’s and women’s singles quarterfinals and semifinals will take place Friday, women’s doubles semifinals Friday, and men’s doubles quarterfinals and semifinals Friday.
