State investigating Glade Utility District

The Wilson Post

Officials with the state Comptroller’s Office are once again looking at the Gladeville Utility District and checking into possibly misappropriated funds.
The investigation is being done at the request of GUD officials, said Danny Bledsoe, director.
“Each year, the water district has an auditor come and look at the books. Last year some items didn’t seem right. The auditor wasn’t satisfied, so we asked the state comptroller’s office to come take a look at it,” he said.
The audit is continuing, but a source told The Wilson Post that the Comptroller’s Office is looking at more than $300,000 that may have been paid inappropriately to a former employee.
