David C. Coggins, 92

LEBANON — Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 22 at the Wilson County Memorial Park for Mr. Coggins, 92, of Lebanon.

A World War II veteran of the US Army, he died July 19, 2009 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Badin, NC.

Serving with the 1st Infantry Division, known as the Big Red One, Mr. Coggins was part of the Allied Invasion Force on D-Day. He worked for the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. before retiring to Lebanon in 2005. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lebanon.

The family will receive friends Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the Wilson County Funeral Home.

Survivors include: daughters Sharon (Mark) Hurwitz and Sandra Coggins – all of Lebanon; granddaughter Susie Hurwitz of Chicago, Ill. and sister Jennie F. Coggins of Badin, NC.

Flowers accepted or a donation may be made to FBC, Lebanon in Mr. Coggins’ memory.

Wilson County Funeral Home and Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.

F.W. "Dub" Creasman, 84

MT. JULIET — Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, July 21 at Bond Memorial Chapel for Mr. Creasman, 84, of Lebanon. A native of Hixson and a member of Cooks United Methodist Church, he died Saturday, July 18, 2009.

A member of the Hixson Masonic Lodge No. 727 F&AM for 55 years, he was a veteran of World War II and a retiree of State Farm Insurance Company.

Services were conducted by Dr. Craig Goff. Interment with military honors followed at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include: his wife of 64 years Dorothy Jollay Creasman of Lebanon and children Debra (Ric) Phillips of Mt. Juliet and David (Deborah) Creasman of Lebanon, Also surviving is granddaughter Leah Creasman; brother-in-law Ernest (Jean) Jollay as well as several nieces and nephews

Mr. Creasman was the son of the late, Francis Wesley and Nellie Bowman Creasman. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Ann Nale and his grandson, Phillip Brandon Hance.  

Family and friends served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to Cooks United Methodist Church Building Fund, 7919 Lebanon Road, Mt. Juliet, 37122.

Bond Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Herod Junior Patterson, 73

LEBANON — Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time for Mr. Patterson, 73, of Lebanon.

He died Monday, July 20, 2009 at Lebanon’s Quality Care Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Disyal Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jay "Jayson" Shank, 23

MT. JULIET — Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 18 at Bond Memorial Chapel for Mr. Shank, 23, of Gallatin. Formerly of Mt. Juliet, Mr. Shank died Wednesday, July 15, 2009. He formerly attended Mt. Juliet High School.

Services were conducted by Kathy Hill. Interment followed at Gallatin City Cemetery.

Survivors include: mother Tammy R. Scott of Gallatin, father J.M. Shank of Petros and sister Michelle Tallent of Oliver Springs.

Also surviving is grandmother Dorothy Hill of Gallatin, girlfriend Jennifer Burton of Mt. Juliet, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Raymond Hill and his great-grandparents Oba and Birdie Hill. Uncles served as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Narcotics Anonymous, P.O. Box 9999, Van Nuys, CA 91409.

Bond Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Louise Hulan Zornes, 81

LEBANON — Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3191 W. Old Murfreesboro Road, for Mrs. Zornes, 81, of Lebanon.

Born May 30, 1928, to the late Robert and Katherine Barnes Hulan, Mrs. Zornes died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at the University Medical Center. A Jehovah’s Witness, she cooked at Lebanon High School for many years and also cooked for the Easter Seal Camp.

The family will receive friends Wednesday after 10 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall.  Services will be conducted by Mike Johnson. Interment will be in the Stewart Cemetery in Ashland City.

Survivors include children Wanda (Tommy) Gibbons of Lebanon, Vicki (Dennis) Sullivan of Nashville, Diane (Ellis) Clark of Cabot, AR and Kimberly Tuttle of Lebanon.

Also surviving are grandchildren Jacqueline Pryor of Lebanon, Neil and Robyn Clark of San Francisco, CA, Tyler Montgomery and Dalton Holt of Lebanon; great-granddaughter Isabella Pryor of Lebanon; sisters: Vera Halpin, Mary Freeman, Robbie "Sissy" Jenkins — all of Nashville and Robert "Buck" Hulan of Hendersonville.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Zornes was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Paul Estes Zornes, who died July 1, 2000, and brother Granville Hulan. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
