Obituaries

Deborah Finley Clifford, 55
NASHVILLE -- Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 4 at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 85 Fairway Drive, Nashville, for Mrs. Clifford, 55, of Hermitage.
She passed away July 30, 2010.
Visitation will be held at the church immediately following the service.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Vicki Burgess.
Survivors include: husband Rick Clifford; son Joshua (Alexis) Finley and mother Patricia Finley.
Also surviving: brothers James Finley and Ken (Julie) Finley; nieces Madison and Julia Kate Finley; nephew Harris Finley; step-children Emily (Robert) Gill, Jenny (Brendon) Chance and Caitlyn Clifford; step-grandchildren Julie Ann Gill and Katie Brooke Chance and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mrs. Clifford was preceded in death by her father, James Finley, Sr.

George Liddle, 73
NASHVILLE -- Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 4 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, for Mr. Liddle, 73, of Mt. Juliet.
A former elder of Gladeville and Smith Springs Churches of Christ, he died Aug. 2, 2010.
A member of Corinth Church of Christ, Mr. Liddle was one of the founders of Una Recreation Center.
Visitation one hour prior to service time on Wednesday.
Services will be conducted by Brother Ralph Neal.
Survivors include: his wife of 53 years Dot Liddle; sons Steve, Tim, Jeff and Kent Liddle; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Margaret Jennings Liddle.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary: Jimmy Jones, Gary Michael, Jackie Charlton, Richard Charlton and Floyd Alexander.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vanderbilt Pulmonary Fibrosis Research, IPF Clinic, 1301 Medical Center Drive, Suite B-817, Nashville, 37232-5735.

Glenna Dale Hackney McKinney, 78
MT. JULIET -- Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, August 2 at Bond Memorial Chapel for Mrs. McKinney, 78, of Murfreesboro.
A member of the Church of Christ and retired from NES after 32 years of service, she died Friday, July 30, 2010.
Services were conducted by Teb Batey. Interment followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include: husband of 55 years Kenneth L. “Mac” McKinney and son Tim (Glenda) McKinney -- all of Murfreesboro.
Also surviving is sister Mary (George) Goodall of Mt. Juliet; sisters-in-law Donna Rhea Hackney of Mt. Juliet; Gladys B. Hackney and Allie B. Hackney both of Murfreesboro and Ola Mai Hackney of Lebanon; grandchildren Heather (Blake) Tuggle, Zach (April) McKinney and Caleb McKinney; great-grandchildren Hayden Tuggle and Cooper Tuggle as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers: Zach McKinney, Caleb McKinney, Blake Tuggle, Hayden Tuggle, Mike Goodall, Mark LaRocca and Trent Kirby. Honorary: Wayne Hackney, Graham Hackney, Aaron Hackney, Van Goodall, Jeff Rawls, Tyler Rawls, Dylan LaRocca and Jeff Kirby.
She was the daughter of the late Virgil C. and Cora White Hackney and was also preceded in death by seven brothers and six sisters.

Helen Nelson Payne, 85
LEBANON -- Memorial services for Mrs. Payne were held Saturday afternoon, July 31 at the First Presbyterian Church, for Mrs. Payne, 85, of Lebanon.
Born March 25, 1925, in Davidson County to the late Charles and Polly Prentiss Nelson, she died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Quality Care Nursing Home. 
A graduate of Ward Belmont, she attended Caseman College and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Payne volunteered with the American Red Cross, and worked with Matthew 25, the Martha O’Brien Center and United Cerebral Palsy.
Services were conducted by Rev. Bill Bryant. 
Survivors include: her husband of 63 years, George G. Payne Jr.; daughters Helen (Jerry) Holt of Nashville and Emily Payne of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; five  great grandchildren; siblings Polly Craig, Betty Nelson; and Ed Nelson -- all of Nashville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, George G. Payne III; and brothers Charles and Billy Nelson.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 304 West Main Street, Lebanon 37087.

Janice Briley Wheeler, 58
MT. JULIET -- Mrs. Wheeler, 58, of Mt. Juliet passed away on July 30, 2010.
She was a lifelong founding member of St. Luke's Cumberland Presbyterian Church and is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas King Briley and Verna Buck Briley.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Joe Wheeler; sister Peggy Briley Schulman of Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers William, Jesse and Wayne Briley.

Kathy Marie Dobson, 57
MT. JULIET -- Mrs. Dobson, 57, of Mt. Juliet, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010.
A member of the of Corona First Baptist Church, no services are planned at this time.
Survivors include: husband Gary Norman Dobson, mother Naina Rose Puckett Bain, mother-in-Law Martha L. Dobson, sons Travis Thomas and Ian Dobson; step-daughters Katina (Kelvin) Coleman, Erica (Michael) Graves and Terra Dobson.
Also surviving are brothers-in-law Michael (Pam) Dobson, James (Jackie) Dobson, Maurice (Shaina) Dobson, Myron Dobson, Tyron (Sharron) Dobson, Nathaniel (Bearnice) Dobson, Warren (Peggy) Carter and Anthony (Mary) Dobson; grandchildren K.C. Coleman, Katrell Coleman, Kailyn Dobson, Travis Thomas, Jr., Corydon Thomas and Seth Thomas; devoted friends Mary Kimble and Pat Curtis as well as other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Dorris Bain.

Lawrence Allen Rose, 68
LEBANON -- Funeral services have been scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 4 in the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mr. Rose, 68, of Lebanon.
Known as “Daddy-O” to his family, he died Monday, August 2, 2010 at his residence.
A member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Mr. Rose was a local businessman who owned and operated many Lebanon businesses.
Visitation Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Services will be conducted by Pastor Michael Christian with special music by Pat Acuff and Terry Weeks.
Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  
Survivors include: his wife of 50 years Jacqueline Rose; sons Kevin (Bert) Rose and Allen (Michelle) Rose; sister Patricia (Roger) Acuff.
Also surviving are grandchildren Jessica (Herb) Scranton, Jacqueline Campbell, Justin Rose, Maddison Rose and Ethan Rose; great-grandchildren Harley and Ayden “Tatar” Scranton and Madelyn and Maleah Campbell; sister-in-law Peggy (David) Cook; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rose is preceded in death by parents Andrew and Francis Rose, infant son Andrew Allen Rose and brother-in-law Hollis Close.
Active pallbearers: Herb Scranton, Kenneth Conner, John Townley, Floyd Wilson, Leroy Watkins and Ronnie Wheeler. Honorary: Roger Acuff, Bill Rose, Sid Paris, Kenneth Paris, Ernest Rose, Tony Rose, Sonny Boyce, Richard Broadhead, Gregg Close and in remembrance Bob Paris.

Mary Jo Ann Edwards, 67
LEBANON -- Funeral services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, August 5 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Edwards, 67, of Lebanon.
A homemaker and a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, she died Tuesday August 3, 2010 at the University Medical Center.
Visitation Wednesday 3-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the funeral.
Services will be conducted by Brother Glenn Denton and Brother Stanley Edwards. Interment follows at the Conatser Cemetery.
Survivors include: mother Naomi Arbuckle; husband Clyde R. Edwards; children Brian (Rhonda) Edwards, Kathy (Michael) Shoptaw and Karen (Danny) McDonald.
Also surviving: sisters Barbara (Tim) Heston and Janie (Bobby) Edwards; grandchildren Chris (Caroline) Edwards, Kevin Thompson, Casey Edwards, Rebecca McDonald; great granddaughter Daiya Malkou; special caregivers Betsy White and Elizabeth Green.
She is preceded in death by her father, James William Arbuckle.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Roger Lee Williams, 63
PIKEVILLE, KY -- Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, August 3 at the Thacker Funeral Home for Mr. Williams, 63.
The son of the late Sylvester and Cynthia Williams, he died July 31, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Hazard, KY.
Burial was at the Morris Family Cemetery in Racoon Creek.
Survivors include: wife Lojean Williams, sons Chad (Betty) Williams of Lebanon and Todd (Rhonda) Williams of Glasgow, KY.
Also surviving: siblings Jerry (Donna) williams, Sue (Roy) Smallwood and Jean (Jack) Shoats and grandchildren Jonathan, Jackson, Madeline and Connor.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams is preceded in death by brothers Cecil, Donald and Raymond Williams.
