Obituaries

Anna Jean Allen, 78
LEBANON -- A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Allen, 78, of Lebanon.
A member of Hickory Ridge Church of Christ and a cafeteria cook for Cumberland University, she died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 at the University Medical Center.
Visitation Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. in the Partlow Funeral Chapel, followed by the memorial.
Services will be conducted by Brother John Nicholson.
Interment will take place in the Memory Gardens in Arlington, Illinois Saturday, Dec. 18.
Survivors include: children William (Loretta) Douglas Allen, Cheryl (John) Larson and Cynthia (John) Nicholson -- all of Illinois, Michelle (David) Blum of Lebanon and Stephanie (Jim) Boyce of Donelson.
Also surviving are sisters Eleanor Massad, Evelyn (Larry) Wilson and Shirley Lilja -- all of Michigan; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by parents Walter and Aleita Kathleen McMakon Hillier; husband William Simpson Allen; son Walter Kenneth Allen and sister Doris Lovell.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mrs. Allen’s memory to Sherry’s Run, P.O. 8, Lebanon, 37088.

George Smith, 88
LEBANON -- George Smith, 88, died on Dec. 13, 2010 at his Lebanon home.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he served his country during World War II as a member of the 446th Bomb Group, Squadron 705.
He was on a B-24 Liberator as a right waist gunner when he was shot down over Germany on April 11, 1944, on his 24th mission. He was captured and held prisoner in Stalag 17B for 13 months.
Following the war, he joined the Nassau County Police Department where he served as a Patrolman and Sergeant.
After 18 years and six months of service he retired on February 6, 1972. He has been a life member of AX-POW since 1980.
Survivors include: wife of 64 years Lillian, children Robert (Sharon), Eric (Janis) and Karen Smith: seen grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Kerry Thompson, 52
LEBANON -- Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mr. Thompson, 52, of Lebanon.
A member of Fairview Church and employed with Thompson Bookkeeping & Tax Service, he died Monday Dec. 13, 2010 at Nashville's St. Thomas Hospital.
Visitation Thursday between the hours of 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the funeral.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Michael Christian. Interment follows at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include: wife Lisa Massey Thompson; parents Joe and Elizabeth Hamilton Thompson and sons Chris Thompson and Cory Thompson -- all of Lebanon; brother Steve Thompson of Germantown, sister Julie (Mike) Lankford; nephews Zack and Blake Lankford; sister/cousin Lynn Hamilton; aunt Jane (Robert) Bull; uncles Claude (Mary Hube) Thompson and Johnny (Sandra) Hamilton; great aunt Nell Bond; numerous cousins and friends;  stepchildren Jeremy (Jill) Doak, Zack Doak, Lindsey Doak White and Lacey Doak; step-grandchildren Makiya White, Brother White and Cade Doak.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents D.T. & Mable Drennon Thompson, maternal grandparents Gourley & Chloe Walker Hamilton as well as aunt Sylvia Jean Baker.
Active pallbearers: Jim Story, Luther Kelley, Junior Johnstone, Tommy Spivey, Mike Lankford, Donnell Thompson, Bobby Thompson and Tommy Thompson. Honorary:  Zack and Blake Lankford, Brother White, Johnny Hamilton, Jeff Sanders, Jeremy and Zack Doak, Terry Bates, and members of his band.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Thompson’s memory to the Fairview Church.

Martha Dickens, 64
MT. JULIET -- Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet for Mrs. Dickens, 64, of Lebanon.
The daughter of the late William, Sr. and Thelma Chambers Stroud, she passed away Dec. 12, 2010.
Visitation Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Scott Dobbins. Interment will follow at the Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include: her husband of 47 years Woody Dickens; daughters Telina (Phineas) Dorris and Tracy (Ron) Cloutier.
Also surviving are siblings Ann Meadows, Linda Moore, Alice (Larry) Flick, Pao Stroud, Jody (Tim) Roberts, Connie (David) Powell, Arthur (Beth) Stroud, Jim (Denise) Stroud, and Sam (Pam) Stroud; grandchildren Kellie (Bryan) Ward, C. J. (Lindsey) Dorris, Bryce Dorris, Chelsea Dorris, Nathan Sanderson, Kathryn Cloutier and one more expected; a great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother Bill Stroud, Jr.
Pallbearers: C. J. Dorris, Bryce Dorris, Bryan Ward, Daniel Stroud, Billy Stroud, III and Lonnie Meadows serving as pallbearers. Honorary: the staff at UMC, Leslie at the Wilson County Health Department and the staff of Odyssey Hospice.

Norma Gail Dolphin, 73
LEBANON -- A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Dolphin, 73, of Lebanon.
A member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and a homemaker, she died at her residence Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010.
Visitation will be held Thursday between the hours of 4-6 p.m. in the Partlow Funeral Chapel.
Brother Gary McCaleb will officiate the services.
Survivors include: children William ”Bill” Thomas Glenn and Jenniffer (Mike) Cox of Lebanon; brother Jon Kindred Hall of Monterey; grandchildren Tricia Aucoin, Michael Williams, Natasha Bates, Daniel Cox and Matthew Cox; as well as six great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents W.J. & Thelma Kindred Hall; daughter Elizabeth Williams; husband Julio Dolphin.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
