A Burns man has been charged in connection with the robbery of a Lebanon convenience store early Sunday morning. A news release from the Lebanon Police Department said the incident occurred about 2:45 a.m., Sunday, June 5, at the Mapco at 803 South Cumberland Street, Lebanon.
Lebanon Police responded to a call reporting a robbery, and officers were able to view video surveillance tape from the store and determined that the blue Kia Sportage with Florida tags used to flee the scene had been reported as stolen from Kentucky. Officers on shift at that time were advised of the vehicle’s description.
About two hours later, Officer Jeff Scott, who was on an unrelated traffic stop, observed the Kia which matched the description from the robbery as it drove past him on East Forrest Avenue. Scott disengaged his current traffic stop to initiate a stop with the Kia. The Kia did not stop and a short vehicle pursuit began.
