Cumberland's Ben Miller was named the Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping the Bulldogs to a 23-13 season-opening victory at Lindsey Wilson.
The Gallatin native was all over the field for the Bulldogs, collecting a team-high 10 tackles, 2.0 for loss, as well as forcing and recovering a fumble and blocking an extra point.
The senior linebacker blocked the extra point after Lindsey Wilson scored the first points of the game in the second quarter. He then stripped LWC's Richard Kennedy from behind at the CU 10-yard line just before the half, recovering the fumble and keeping the game tied at six at intermission.
Miller led the Bulldogs last season with 10.5 tackles for loss and ranked second on the club with 78 tackles in 10 contests.
Cumberland plays at Campbellsville University this Saturday at 6 p.m. CT before taking on Kentucky Christian in the home opener on September 17 at 1:30 p.m.
