WB&T to celebrate 25th year next week

Wilson Bank & Trust, a leader in the local community for the past 25 years, is celebrating that milestone next week with a number of events and celebrations to thank customers, shareholders, employees and the community at-large.

In late 1986, two local independent banks were sold to larger regional banks, leaving Lebanon without a locally based financial institution. A group of Lebanon residents and businesspeople soon came together to form Wilson Bank & Trust.

The first employee hired was Chief Executive Officer Randall Clemons, a bank executive at the time.

On Feb. 1, 1987 the organizers sold the first share of stock and after just 90 days, local investors had bought more than $5 million in stock.

The bank operated out of a small, two-bedroom home on the first property sold from the Castle Heights Military Academy. On May 11, 1987, the bank opened its doors for the first time to the public in a grand opening celebration.
