Law Enforcement and Public Works committee meetings rescheduled

Due to conflicts in scheduling the Wilson County Commission Law Enforcement and Public Works committees' joint meeting has been moved to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the Sheriff's Department office located at 105 E. High Street in Lebanon.

Man charged with arson in weekend Watertown house fire

A Madison man was arrested Saturday, Sept. 29, for allegedly burning down his girlfriends house in Watertown.

Watertown Police Chief Joe Hall said Scott Dale Akers, 43, of 313 Warrior Road in Madison, was arrested and charged with arson for setting fire to the home of Jill Green at 233 Cornwell Ave.

The fire was reported at 10:48 p.m., Saturday. Watertown Fire Department and Wilson County Emergency Management Agency responded to the call. WEMA Director John Jewell when crews first arrived one room was on fire.

According to (Akers), he set the curtains on fire and it went from there, Hall noted.
