Olene Moss Smith, 85

WATERTOWN -- Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Hunter Funeral Home for Mrs. Smith, 85, of the Statesville Community. The former factory worker died Oct. 3, 2012 at Nashville's Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning, Oct. 4 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet for Mr. Smiley, 59, of Antioch. He died October 1, 2012.

Boo Fest set for Providence Commons

Everyone is invited to have a frighteningly good time at the inaugural Boo Fest to be held rain or shine on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Providence Commons in Mt. Juliet.

The event will feature fun and games for all ages including bounce houses, corn hole, face painting, treats and a costume contest for families and even their four-legged companions. The costume contest will be from 2 until 3:15 p.m. and will be for those ages 0-2 years, 3-8 years, 9-13 years and 14 and up.

Coordinator Sandra Locklear, of The Party Zone in Providence Commons, said several shop owners designed the event to bring awareness to the shopping center which is located on South Mt. Juliet Road on the left, just past Providence MarketPlace.

Big games loom tonight

Wilson Central hosts Beech --
Billed as the top game in Middle Tennessee tonight, Wilson Central and Beech will square off in a District 9AAA battle of unbeatens. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium and if history is any indication, fans should plan on arriving early in order to secure a parking spot.

CU announces hoops schedule

Cumberland University mens basketball coach Lonnie Thompson announced the 2012-13 schedule this week, which includes 14 home games and eight contests against teams that played in the NAIA Championships last season.
