Eloise McBride Barrett, 83

NASHVILLE -- A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Cathedral of the Incarnation for Mrs. Barrett, 83, of Nashville. Born in Marshall County, she died Jan. 24, 2013 in Nashville.

James Jimbo Vance, 53

Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at Bond Memorial Chapel for Mr. Vance, 53, of Mt. Juliet. A former stock car driver at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, "Jimbo" died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bond Memorial Chapel.
Interment will be at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
Mt. Juliet's Bond Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Louise Vandergriff , 91

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Jan. 26 Watertown's at Hunter Funeral Home for Mrs. Vandergriff, 91, of Watertown. Born June 7, 1921 in DeKalb County, she died Jan. 24, 2013.

Burial was at the Salem Cemetery in Liberty.
Arrangements were in the care of Hunter Funeral Home.

Nell Watson Crutcher, 81

Funeral services for Mrs. Nell Watson Crutcher are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Owens and Pastor John Hunn officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation Tuesday after 11 AM at Ligon & Bobo.

Mrs. Crutcher, 81, of Lebanon died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Born May 28, 1931, in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Darden T. and Rosa Hester Watson and was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Norman Lee Taylor, 93

Funeral services have been set for 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at Hunter Funeral Home for Mr. Taylor, 93, of Watertown. Retired from TRW Ross Gear, he died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at his residence.

WSD investigates assault of woman

Wilson County Sheriff's Department officials are tight-lipped as their investigation continues into a vicious attack on an 18 year-old Wilson County woman earlier this week.

The WCSD has asuspect in mind in connection with the incident.

"We have a person of interest but we really can't release any more information at this time," said Detective Ricky Knight.

The victim, who was found on the front porch of a home in the northeastern part of Wilson County Monday night, sustained severe head injuries and was transported to Nashville's Vanderbilt University Medical Center -- according to Knight.

No. 7 WHS rips Monterey Monday

MONTEREY -- No. 7-ranked Watertown pulled away with a high-energy second quarter and went on to smoke Monterey 75-60 Monday evening. Leading 19-13 at the end of the first quarter, Coach Matt Bradshaws team took control with a 29-13 run for a 48-26 lead at intermission.

When Macieo Gaines wasnt slashing to the bucket, Ty Jobe was bombing in jumpers from 3-point range. The pair combined for 48 points as Gaines accounted for 25 points on a 12-of-19 shooting night and Jobe drilled 6-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Gaines also led the team with eight rebounds and handed out six assists. Nick Sackman added eight points while Josiah Smith chipped in with seven.

Watertown improved to 19-3 on the season with the victory.

(girls) WHS 49, Monterey 37
MONTEREY -- Ninth grader Bobbi Staats led the way with 15 points as Watertown knocked off Monterey 49-37 Monday evening.

The Tigerettes rolled to a third consecutive win, improving to 12-11 overall. Bay Cole added 11 points for Watertown while Jasmine High scored 10 points.

(girls) FCS 50, Gordonsville 40
LEBANON -- Friendship Christians Lady Commanders improved to 13-6 overall and 4-2 in District 8A following Mondays 50-40 victory over Gordonsville at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

Deja Jones had 18 points and Kaitlyn Teeter 16 as the Lady Commanders handed Gordonsville their first loss in District 8A. GHS fell to 13-9 on the season, 4-1 in league play.

(boys) Gordonsville 62, Friendship 47
LEBANON -- Leading 30-27 at intermission, Friendship Christian watched Gordonsville go on a 16-4 third quarter run enroute to a 62-47 win over the Commanders Monday night.

FCS dropped to 5-12 overall and 2-4 in District 8A. Allen Heaston led the Commanders with 15 points, Zac Anderson dropped in 12 and Anthony Williams added eight points.

(girls) MJ Christian 43, The Webb School 35
MT. JULIET -- Meredith Orr had 12 points and Shelby Leech 10 as Mt. Juliet Christian Academy topped The Webb School 43-35 Monday.

The Lady Saints were coming off a 45-26 win Saturday over The Kings Academy. Lynzee Ethridge had 13 points, Orr 12 and Lauren Wankel 10 Saturday.

MT. JULIET -- Trevor West lit it up for 24 points Monday as Mt. Juliet Christian Academy downed The Webb School 54-46. West knocked down three 3-pointers as the Saints improved to 8-13 overall. Jackson Harrell finished with 13 and Alex Graves eight in the win.
