Devilettes dominate in OT

CLARKSVILLE -- After almost letting one slip through their fingers in the fourth quarter, Lebanon's Devilettes dominated in overtime for a 59-48 victory Friday at Kenwood in the Region 5AAA quarterfinals.

The win sets up a Monday night showdown at Beech vs. District 9AAA top seed and cross county rival Mt. Juliet with a berth in the TSSAA Sectionals on the line.

Lebanon (16-13) watched a 12 point second half lead dissolve as Kenwood (13-11) came roaring back -- out scoring the Devilettes 18-10 in the fourth period.

Jackson Co. eliminates FCS girls

WATERTOWN -- Jaycee Coes 27 points helped power Jackson County to a 43-32 victory Monday night over Friendship Christian in the Region 4A semifinals. With the win, the Lady Devils move on to Wedneday nights region championship against longtime rival Clarkrange.

Jackson County (28-3) never trailed, but a scrappy FCS club managed to tie the score twice in the second quarter.

Junior post Deja Jones paced Friendship with a double-double, 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kaitlyn Teeter finished with eight points and eight rebounds while Kristian Watkins chipped in with six points.

Coach Deanna Teeters team wrapped up the 2012-2013 season with a record of 18-9 overall.

Friendship Christian 50, Clay Co. 34
LEBANON Friendship Christian dominated Clay County 22-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 50-34 Region 4A quarterfinal victory Friday at the bay family Sportsplex.

Deja Jones led the Lady Commanders (18-8) with 29 points while Kaitlyn Teeter added 12.

Jackson Co. 72, Watertown 43
GAINESBORO Leading 34-22 at halftime over a determined Watertown crew, Jackson County (27-3) blew the game open after intermission for a 60-27 win in Friday's Region 4A quarterfinal contest.

Brooklyn Apple connected on six 3-pointers and led the Lady Blue Devils with 22 points. Kassidy Allen added 14 points and Jaycee Coe scored 10.

Katie Dalton led Watertown (14-18) with 11 points.

WCHS thumps Rossview

GLADEVILLE -- Wilson Central came out of the gate red-hot and went on to an easy 74-46 victory over Rossview in Saturday's Region 5AAA quarterfinals.

The Wildcats (23-8) led 20-2 after one quarter and 48-13 at intermission.

WCHS had 15 points from Ben Palmer and 14 from Jacob Williams. Blake Huffman scored 12 and Preston Reed added 11 for the winners who will play in the regional semifinals Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. vs. Hendersonville at Beech.

WHS hosts JC Tuesday

Watertown 43, Pickett Co. 41
WATERTOWN A buzzer-beater by Macieo Gaines was the difference Saturday night as the Watertown topped Pickett County 43-41 Saturday in the Region 4A quarterfinals at WHS.

With the win, Watertown moves on to a 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at home vs. Jackson County in the regional semifinals.

Pickett County (13-19) the No. 4 seed from District 7A led 32-24 at halftime before Watertown rallied in the third quarter to trim it to a 36-35 deficit.

Gaines led the Purple Tigers (27-3) with 16 points.

Jackson Co. 53, Friendship 45
GAINESBORO Host Jackson County overcame a 16-2 second-quarter showing by the and a 36-33 deficit after three quarters, to down Friendship Christian 53-45 in Saturday's Region 4A quarterfinal.

The Blue Devils (13-17) outscored their guests 20-9 in the fourth quarter to rally for the win -- setting up a Jackson County vs. Watertown semifinal game Tuesday evening at Watertown.

Senior Allen Heaston led the Commanders with 25 points.
