9AAA tennis tourney updates

The District 9AAA team tennis tournament semifinals are set, but in between the individual tournament must first be conducted.

On Thursday, the third-seeded Beech girls posted a 4-0 win over visiting sixth-seeded Station Camp to advance to a May 2 semifinal match against second-seeded Mt. Juliet. Top-seeded Hendersonville will take on fifth-seeded Wilson Central, which scored a 4-3 upset win over Lebanon, in a May 2 semifinal as well.

KINGSPORT -- Mid-South Conference officials have announced the eight-team conference tournament bracket that begins Saturday at Domtar Park.

Lindsey Wilson (43-7, 25-5 in the Mid-South Conference) is the tournaments top seed followed by No. 2-seed Campbellsville (37-13, 25-5). The two teams shared the regular season title with 25-5 records.

GLADEVILLE -- Lebanon rode a solid pitching performance from Bethany Anderson and took advantage of three Wilson Central errors in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Lady Wildcats.

Trailing 1-0 after three, LHS struck for five runs in the top of the fifth inning -- chasing WC starter Hannah Bodenhorn.

Anderson did the rest, working the full seven innings, allowing just six hits while striking out seven with one walk.
