Biddle speaks to Breakfast Rotary

Journalist sees improvement for Titans
Wilson Post
sports columnist Joe Biddle told members of the Lebanon Breakfast Rotary Thursday that he expected the Tennessee Titans to be better this year saying that the amount of money the team's ownership has committed to "free agents" will make a difference.

Biddle said the Titans are spending about $130 million this year on "free agent" players that he believes will fill holes in the team's roster and help generate better overall results.

He said Las Vegas odds makers have placed an over/under on the number of wins for the Titans at 6.5. He predicted they will do better than that with the improved roster and suggested they may win eight or nine games. If the Titans win nine games, Biddle said they will be in the playoffs.

CU hires new soccer coach

Cumberland University Director of Athletics Ron Pavan announced Thursday the hiring of Kyle Smith as the head coach for mens soccer.

This is a very good hire for our University and our soccer program, getting someone from a Division I program who has a great deal of experience both as a player and coach, Pavan said. Kyle brings great knowledge of the level of play at the NAIA level and what it takes to compete both athletically and academically.
