Decorated Korean War veteran Samuel Vernell Netherly, 82, passed away Saturday June 8, 2013 at Alvin C. York Veterans Hospital. A veteran of the U.S. Army and winner of a Silver Star, a Purple Heart and many other honors, he was also a retired truck driver.
A fifth person has been arrested following a large disturbance that broke out at Willow Creek Apartments in Mt. Juliet on Sunday evening.
A Mt. Juliet Police officer responded to a complaint from the manager of the apartment complex at about 11 a.m., Monday, regarding alleged threats and trespassing. While on the scene, the worker said that she wanted to prosecute the individual for the reported threatening behavior and criminal trespassing, and authorities assisted her in the reporting and arrest process, said Sgt. Tyler Chandler, spokesperson.
WEATHER UPDATE -- A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for northern Wislon County until 3:15 p.m., today, by the National Weather Service Office in Old Hickory.
At 2:42 p.m., meteorologists detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. The storm was near Gallatin and moving east at 30 mph.
Locations that may be impacted include Lebanon, Hartsville, Bledsoe Creek State Park, Castalian Springs, Dickerson Chapel Recreation Area and Tuckers Crossroads.
