Retired educator Inez Jennings Harrison, 97

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for retired educator Inez Jennings Harrison, 97, of Lebanon.

Born April 3, 1916 in Statesville, Mrs. Harrison died peacefully Thursday June 20, 2013 at her home in Lebanon. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rial & Gertie Witty Jennings; her husband of 58 years Joe Clark Harrison; her sister Fannie B. Martin; her brother A.P. Jennings; and her niece Deanie M. Bucy.

Child dies after being struck by pickup truck in Mt. Juliet

A child who was struck by a vehicle earlier Friday in Mt. Juliet has died.

Sgt. Tyler Chandler, Mt. Juliet Police Department spokesperson, said the incident occurred about 10:30 a.m. on private property in the 500 block of Main Street.

A 73-year-old man was backing up in a Ford F250 pickup truck and did not see the child, Chandler said.

Lebanon City Council special meeting set Tuesday

Lebanon City Council will have a special called meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, in the Town Meeting Hall, City of Lebanon Administration Building at Castle Heights.

The meeting will include first reading on an ordinance to adopt the budget and tax rate for fiscal year 2013-2014.

Service held for educator Inez Harrison

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, June 23 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for retired educator Inez Jennings Harrison, 97, of Lebanon.

LYBA awards league champs

Closing ceremonies Tuesday, June 18
Lebanons Baird Park will be a busy place next weekend as the rec league complex will be hosting two different postseason baseball tournaments.

The Lebanon Youth Baseball Association will welcome seven teams for a double-elimination subdistrict beginning Friday, June 28.

Among the teams vying for three spots in a district tournament the following weekend include: Ashland City, Pleasant View, Coopertown, White House, Charlotte, Lakewood and the host Lebanon Dixie Nationals All-Stars.
