Committee recommends BOE expand

A Board of Education Ad Hoc Committee appointed by Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto recommended the number of school board members be increased to seven by a vote of 4-1 at the panels Tuesday meeting.

The discussion will now move to the full Education Committee, which must now make a recommendation to the full county commission to leave the Wilson County Board of Education as it is with five members or increase it to seven.

Feds indict Lebanon man

Dorian Ayache, 65, of Lebanon, and Theresa Vincent, 53, of Murfreesboro, were indicted Wednesday, Sept. 11by a federal grand jury on charges related to the violation of U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, announced David Rivera, acting U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee.

The indictment charges Ayache with nine counts of violating DOT regulations, one count of conspiring to defraud the United States, and two counts of obstructing a grand jury investigation. Vincent was charged with conspiring to defraud the United States and with one count of perjury.

CU promotes golf coach

LEBANON -- Cumberland University Director of Athletics Ron Pavan announced Rich Williams as the new mens and womens golf coach on Friday, effective immediately. Williams replaces Scott Wilkerson, who retired earlier this weekafter leading the program for 10 years, including bringing back womens golf five years ago.

Williams served as a volunteer assistant last season for the Bulldogs. The Franklin native has worked in a variety of roles within the golf industry, including as an assistant and head professional at Indian Hills Golf Club in Murfreesboro, The Little Course as Aspen Grove in Franklin, The Polo Club in Boca Raton, Fla., and Gaylord Springs Golf Club in Nashville.

MJ HOSTS 3-0 BLACKMAN
A wounded animal can be awfully dangerous, so you can look for Mt. Juliet to come out fighting tonight as the Golden Bears host 3-0 Blackman in a 7 p.m. contest.

Station Camp was clicking on all cylinders in last weeks 41-3 win over Mt. Juliet (2-1), the worst loss for the Bears since a 44-10 blowout vs. Whitehaven in the 2011 state semifinal contest.
