SOCCER -- Nay lifts CU over Trinity

TWO GOALS IN SECOND HALF
LEBANON -- Taylor Nay scored twice in the first six minutes of the second half and 20th-ranked Cumberland turned up the intensity after a slugging opening 45 minutes, defeating Trinity International, 2-1, in womens soccer action Saturday at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

Nay netted a pair of goals just after intermission and Lindsay Kitson made a save in traffic in the final minute to preserve the win over the Trojans (4-1-0). Cumberland ends its five-match homestand this Wednesday with a 4 p.m. contest against Union University.

VOLLEYBALL -- CU tops Pikeville 3-0

PIKEVILLE, Ky. Sheridan Jones recorded 10 kills and a .333 attack percentage, leading the Cumberland volleyball team to a straight-set victory over Pikeville in a Mid-South Conference match on Saturday.

Karli Collins added personal season-highs in assists with nine and digs with 12 in the Bulldogs 3-0 win.

The Bulldogs (8-3, 2-2) opened the match with a tight 25-23 victory in the first set, before opening wide margins in the final two. CU completed the win with 25-11 and 25-15 wins, respectively.
