William Oval "Bill" Barry, 88, a World War II veteran, owner of multiple radio stations, a nationally recognized leader in the broadcast industry, and a community stalwart died peacefully Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 at the west Spring Street home where his family had lived since 1931.

In many circles he was regarded a modern day pioneer in the field of radio broadcasting. Much of his life was about music and much of that was focused on what is recognized today as the "big band" sound.

Services for Mr. Barry are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at College Hills Church of Christ.

Man nabbed on drug, weapons charges

A Lebanon man, convicted of second-degree murder in 1998 in Wilson County, now faces a number of charges after authorities served a search warrant at his residence and reportedly found drugs and weapons.

Lebanon Police Department executed the search warrant at 523 B South Maple Street at about 10 p.m., Monday, Sept. 16, a news release from the LPD said.
