CU baseball, softball postponed

In anticipation of winter blast
LEBANON -- Cumberland University’s baseball and softball doubleheaders scheduled for Monday against Mid-Continent University and Campbellsville have been canceled and will be made-up later in the season.

MURFREESBORO -- Mt. Juliet's Lady Bears will be taking a record of 29-1 and a 24-game winning streak into this afternoon's opening game with Jefferson County (22-11) in the TSSAA Class AAA state tournament at MTSU's Murphy Center.

Admission is $10 per person with tickets available at the Murphy Center box office.

CU BASEBALL - 'Dogs split at G-town Saturday

GEORGETOWN, KY -- No. 23 Georgetown scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to win the opener 5-4, but Kevin P. Greene tossed a two-hitter in the second game, helping 10th-ranked Cumberland to a 7-1 victory and a split of the doubleheader Saturday at Robert N. Wilson Field in Georgetown, Ky.

CU HOOPS -- Men top Rio Grande 73-66

LEBANON -- Lester Gude netted a career-best 23 points, including four 3-pointers, while Lamar Brinkley added 12 points and 14 rebounds as Cumberland ended the season with a 73-66 victory over the University of Rio Grande Saturday at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.

LEBANON -- Seniors TaCouya Allen and Casie Cowan both set career-highs in their final games, scoring 33 points each, and Allen added 13 rebounds, as Cumberland rolled to an 84-66 victory over the University of Rio Grande in women’s basketball action Saturday at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.
