A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 4 at the First United Methodist Church for Mr. Lancaster, 83, of Lebanon.  A retired educator and band director, Mr. Lancaster died peacefully at his residence Friday, March 28, 2014.

CU BASEBALL - 'Dogs split at LWU

COLUMBIA, KY -- After rain canceled Saturday's first game of the series, Cumberland managed a split with Mid-South Conference foe Lindsey Wilson Sunday afternoon at Egnew Field.

Ricky Coleman’s two-run single in the 10th inning gave Cumberland a 5-3 victory in the opener but Alex Bautista’s three-run homer in the first put Lindsey Wilson ahead early and Derek Shugart’s two-run triple in the sixth provided insurance in an 8-4 LWC win in the second contest.

CU SOFTBALL - Rally produces sweep

LEBANON -- The Cumberland softball team scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to erase a three-run deficit in Sunday's a 5-4 victory in game two of a doubleheader sweep of Virginia Intermont at the CU Softball Field.

The Bulldogs (20-9-1) scored five runs in the fifth inning of game one during a 5-2 win, capped by a two run home run from Shawnee Kirk, part of a four-hit, three-RBI day for the senior.

PREP VOLLEYBALL -- Stephens hired at FCS

John Stephens, founder of the Airborne Volleyball club program and junior varsity coach at Lebanon High was announced Monday as the new head coach at Friendship Christian School.

Stephens replaces Randy Alley who led the Lady Commanders to back-to-back State Championships in 2011 and 2012 and was twice named Coach of the Year by the Tennessee Sportswriters Association. Alley, head coach at FCS for the past three seasons, resigned late last year.
