The Letter

A few days ago, I ran across a letter written 18-years ago. It is from a fellow hunter who shall remain nameless even though he gave me permission to print the letter and use his name. It is to a young woman, a college student, an anti-hunter who wrote to him objecting to a picture that ran in a local newspaper. I thought this an appropriate time to run the letter and his reply.

Watertown Mayor responds to audit findings
Watertown city government is "under a cloud," according to Mayor Mike Jennings, as an investigation by the state comptroller's office alleges almost $22,000 was stolen from city coffers over a two-and-a-half-year period - an allegation city officials dispute.

In a report issued on Sept. 29, the comptroller's office says that $21,773 was "stolen" in a "theft scheme" that went undetected between Jan.1, 2011 and June 30, 2013.

Prescription drug abuse hits home

The next big thing in illegal narcotics
The trend of abusing and selling prescription drugs has become "an epidemic" in recent years according to Lebanon Police Chief Scott Bowen.

The problem is so widespread, that nine years ago the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) led a National Drug Take Back Day initiative. The Lebanon Police Department participated in a Drug Take-Back on Saturday and collected 21 pounds of pills that could have had a harmful effect on individuals or the environment if left unneeded, exposed or disposed of in the water system.

LEBANON -- Friendship Christian School's volleyball program honored seniors Autumn Josey, Savannah Robinson, Taylor Patterson and Tana Whited prior to Tuesday night's 3-2 victory over Donelson Christian at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

Game scores: 12-25, 25-12, 10-25, 25-20 and 15-9.

CU women ranked No. 3 in NAIA

Bulldogs host UC Wednesday
LEBANON -- Cumberland University moved up one spot to No. 3 in the latest edition of the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday.

The Bulldogs (9-0-1) have won eight consecutive matches since a 1-1 draw against William Carey, the current No. 2 team nationally, on September 5. CU has outscored its opponents, 40-5, this season, including 25-2 in the second half and overtime.
