D-II VOLLEYBALL: FCS faces play-in game

Lady Commanders stand 23-19 overall
MT. JULIET -- Friendship Christian's volleyball team knocked off The King's Academy 3-2 Tuesday in the East-Middle consolation contest at Mt. Juliet Christian Academy, earning the right to participate in a regional tournament play-in game on Thursday.

Game scores: 19-25, 26-24, 19-25, 25-19 & 15-11 as the Lady Commanders improved to 23-19 overall. Seedings as well as the site of the regional play-in game have yet to be determined.

Bulldogs move up to No. 12 in NAIA

CU now stands 4-1 on the season
LEBANON -- Cumberland University continued its move up the national rankings on Monday, coming in at 12th in the NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced. The Bulldogs moved up two more spots after a 36-30 overtime victory at the University of Pikeville Saturday, Oct. 4.

Coach Donnie Suber's team started the season ranked No. 25 nationally and has incrementally moved up over the last month, from 25 to 21 to 18 to 14 and now 12. The Bulldogs have won three straight contests, the last two on the road.
