It was a quiet night, just the right quiet. He played the harmonica softly, just fooling around with a tune. The miles and toll of the weather showed in his perpetually tanned face. The Doc sat with eyes closed, just listening, not dozing.

They had covered miles that day, resting themselves and the horses less often that they would have liked. Now, supper resting comfortably in their bellies, the camp was secure and dry, the horses cared for and hobbled in the small meadow near the creek.

Lady Bears move on to round 2
GALLATIN -- Mt. Juliet advanced to the second round of the District 9AAA volleyball tournament by eliminating Wilson Central 3-0 Monday at Station Camp. Game scores: 25-16, 25-19 and 25-23.

SaraGrace Wilson paced the Lady Bears (24-19) with 12 kills, Amber Erhart finished with 16 assists and Samantha Khoury had 11 digs.

Cumberland Director of Athletics Ron Pavan announced Tuesday morning the dismissal of volleyball head coach Brittany Harry effective immediately.

Pavan, in his seventh year as Cumberland's AD, will assume interim head coach responsibilities.
