Lineman blocked two PATs in CU win
LEBANON -- Cumberland University's Cayman Russell was named the Tennessee Sportswriters Association Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday after blocking a pair of extra points in a 47-46 victory at Union College, including the potential tying point-after with 2:04 remaining in the contest.
The Hendersonville native chased ballcarriers all game, finishing with seven total tackles in the victory, the fourth straight win for the Bulldogs.
Linebacker at Coast Guard Academy
NEW LONDON, CT -- Coast Guard junior linebacker Kyle Wood has been named the CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Bears 17-0 win over Curry on Saturday.
The former Friendship Christian School standout and Mt. Juliet native had six tackles and three of the team's four sacks for a loss of 21 yards as Curry was shutout in a regular season game for the first time in 14 years.
