'Dogs drop to 19th in NAIA poll

Following 49-14 loss at Bethel
On the heels of an embarrassing 49-14 loss at Bethel Saturday, Cumberland dropped seven spots to No. 19 in the NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

It marked the second loss in three weeks for the Bulldogs after a four-game winning streak from September 20-October 11.

1-0 loss Monday to NW Ohio
LIMA, OHIO -- Pauline Quesson scored unassisted in the fourth minute and ninth-ranked Northwestern Ohio held on for a 1-0 victory over No. 1 Cumberland, giving the Bulldogs their second straight loss Monday afternoon in Lima, Ohio.

Cumberland (13-2-1) lost despite outshooting the homestanding Racers, 15-8, including 10-1 in the second half.

Elrod paces locals in AAA race
NASHVILLE -- Twenty-four Wilson County athletes participated in the TSSAA State Cross Country Meet Saturday, Nov. 1 at Percy Warner Park.

Wilson Central sophomore John Elrod had the top local finish in the Class AAA boys meet, running the 5,000 meter Steeplechase Course in 16:52.56 --good enough for 29th place in a field of 192 harriers.

WC wrestler earns All-America status

Kramer places 5th in Super 32 Challenge
GREENSBORO, NC -- Wilson Central High wrestler Johnny Kramer earned a fifth place finish and All-America honors over the weekend at the prestigious Super 32 Challenge held at the Greensboro Special Events Center.

The TSSAA Class AAA 220-pound champion as a junior with a record of 62-2, Kramer is the only one of 10 Tennessee grapplers to have placed in the top eight since this event was founded in 2000.
