New spring deadline: Sprinkler reports

Region semis open at 12 Noon --
MT. JULIET -- Semifinal play in the Region 5-AAA basketball tournament opens at 12 Noon Wednesday as tournament officials try to be another blast of winter weather later in the day.

Wilson Central's Lady Wildcats take on Rossview at 12 Noon, followed by a boys game between Mt. Juliet and Clarksville Northwest at 1:30 p.m. The Mt. Juliet Lady Bears will play Hendersonville High at 3 p.m. followed by Station Camp vs. Clarksville Northeast at 4:30 p.m.

Watertown teams play Friday night

Region 4-A berths are secure --
Watertown High's basketball teams will open play Friday in the District 8-A tournament at Goodpasture in Madison, knowing full well they have already secured spots in next week's regionals.

The Purple Tigers, seeded No. 2 in the tournament with a record of 15-13 overall, 8-2 in the district, will take the floor Friday at 5:30 p.m. against Gordonsville.

Weather permitting, Cumberland University will open the home baseball schedule today as No. 9-ranked Missouri Baptist visits Ernest L. Stockton Field for a three game series.

Today's first pitch is set for 2 p.m. followed by a 12 Noon doubleheader on Saturday.
