Samuel Rex Shields, 74

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mr. Shields, 74, of Lebanon.

A veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from AT&T after 35 years of service, he died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Nashville's Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Gehle, a single person, to Kevin T. FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Ninth-seeded Shawnee State (Ohio) used a 12-0 run midway through the second half en route to a 70-59 win over eighth-seeded Cumberland Thursday at the 2015 Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Tournament at the Frankfort Convention Center.

The Bears (11-18) advance to face top-seeded Pikeville (Ky.) on Friday in the tournament's quarterfinals.

Cumberland (9-21) trimmed the Bears' lead to four (63-59) with three minutes left in the game, but Shawnee State closed with seven straight points to avenge two regular season losses to the Bulldogs.

Shawnee State ended the game making 51.1 percent (23-of-45) of its shots compared to just 30.5 percent (18-of-59) from Cumberland.

Ethan Moffatt led the Bears with 14 points -- part of 37 points off the Shawnee State bench. Jorian Hudson added 13 while Frederick Moore chipped in 12.

Jerrod Gaston led the Bulldogs with 13 while Paul Williams contributed 12.

FRANKFORT, KY -- Cumberland junior Chelsey Hall was voted First Team All-Mid-South Conference in a vote of league coaches announced Wednesday night during the banquet for the conference championships that begin Thursday at the Frankfort Convention Center.

A Murfreesboro native and a graduate of Blackman High, Hall ranks third in the Mid-South in scoring at 15.7 points per game and also ranks third in steals (2.04), seventh in 3-pointers made (50) and eighth in assists (3.08).
