The times they are a changin'

I started bowhunting with a Fred Bear recurve bow and six aluminum arrows. I practiced all summer, shooting at hay bales in the backyard. Just 45-minutes into the opening morning of archery season, I shot and killed an 80-pound doe. She was the first deer at which I ever flung an arrow.

I hunted throughout the rest of archery season, missed several deer and wounded one which I did not recover. I was not what you may call completely happy with my equipment though there was nothing wrong with it.

Baseball & softball teams in action --
The 2015 TSSAA spring sports schedule cranks up Monday with several local teams opting to go South in order to escape the bad weather.

The baseball and softball teams from Wilson Central High and Friendship Christian School are participating in the annual Nike Classic -- being staged at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex -- just a stone's throw from the Alabama coast.

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Jalita Fason hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds remaining and paced Cumberland with 18 points in a 59-56 victory over 22nd-ranked University of Pikeville on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Championships in Frankfort, Ky.

With the win the Bulldogs (16-11) advance to the semifinals on Saturday to face third-ranked Campbellsville University at 1 p.m. Central Time.
