CU hires new wrestling coach

JUCO coach James Hicks --
Cumberland University Director of Athletics Ron Pavan announced the hiring of James Hicks as the program's new wrestling head coach. He will take over at CU on April 20. Hicks has served the last three years as head coach at Darton State College in Albany, Ga.

"We are pleased to hire an individual who has enjoyed success as an athlete, an assistant coach and as a head coach to lead our program at Cumberland," Pavan said. "James is very familiar with the NAIA and our program from his time at Campbellsville University and we hope he can duplicate his success as a head coach from his last three years at Darton State."

LEBANON -- The Friendship Christian School Commanders improved to 5-7 on the season after taking down Eagleville 4-3 Wednesday evening.

Down 3-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Friendship's Jacob Self drove in Cody Walker with a single. Marshall Taylor moved Self to second with a single, bringing up Eli Hunt -- who singled up the middle to bring in Self with the go ahead run.

BRENTWOOD -- Wilson Central's softball team improved to 8-3 on the season following Wednesday night's 7-3 victory at Ravenwood High.

The Lady Wildcats scored two runs in each of the first three innings to chase starting pitcher Abby Irwin and finished with 12 hits.
