Them furrin breeds

We were catching Oscars, me and Russ Jackson. We were on some canal down in Florida and they were nailing the half a night crawler we were fishing under a cork.

They fought like demons and ran a pound or more. Fantastic eating, too.

So this guy from Mt. Juliet says to me, "Have you heard about all the Tilapia they are catching at the steam plant? A friend of mine at work caught 75 in a half-day, last week."

8-A BASEBALL -- WHS tops Goodpasture

Tigers pound out 14 hits
WATERTOWN -- Ringing the bats to the tune of 14 hits, Watertown advanced in the winner's bracket of the District 8-A baseball tournament Monday with a 5-1 victory over top-seeded Goodpasture.

The top three hitters in the Purple Tiger lineup, Seth Price, Colin Jennings and Cameron Jennings, accounted for eight hits and six RBI.

9-AAA BASEBALL -- 'Cats will play for title

Wednesday at Drakes Creek Park
Already assured of a berth in the Region 5-AAA tournament, Wilson Central will play for the District 9-AAA title Wednesday -- taking on Hendersonville High. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Hendersonville's Drakes Creek Park.

A three seed, the Wildcats improved to 20-9-1 by eliminating Mt. Juliet 4-1 Monday evening in the finals of the South Bracket.

PREP SOFTBALL -- FCS plays in regional

LHS eliminates Portland
Friendship Christian's Lady Commanders will take a record of 31-5 into Wednesday's East-Middle Regional Tournament at Donelson Christian Academy. Coach Jody Atwood's team will play Ezell-Harding at 5 p.m.

A win would earn FCS the right to host a substate series while a loss will sent the Lady Commanders to the Memphis area for a best two-of-three. Ezell-Harding stands 19-11 overall following a 5-4 victory over Zion Christian.
