MURFREESBORO -- Peaking at the perfect time of the year, Wilson Central opened the 2015 TSSAA Class AAA state softball tournament with two wins, including a 10-5 victory over hometown Siegel Wednesday at the McKnight Complex.

The Lady Wildcats improved to 39-7-1 and are scheduled to play Ooltewah (40-8) Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the finals of the winner's bracket. Win or lose Thursday, Coach Michael Shepard's team will be in action Friday -- either in finals at 3 p.m. or in the loser's bracket at 9 a.m.

FCS softball moves to loser's bracket

King's Acd. 10, Friendship 0
MURFREESBORO -- Friendship Christian dropped into the loser's bracket of the Division II-A state softball tournament following Thursday morning's 10-0 loss to The King's Academy in the finals of the winner's bracket.

The Lady Commanders fell to 34-9 on the season and will play a loser-out game Thursday afternoon at Starplex.
