A new law allows folks in Tennessee to smash a window or forcibly enter a parked car to rescue an at-risk animal without liability. Prior to this law, animal lovers were often frustrated over the proper way to handle saving a dog, or other animal, trapped inside of a car on a hot day.

Softball pitcher, '66 hoopsters --
LEBANON -- Cumberland University Athletics announced its newest Sports Hall of Fame members Thursday, which include softball player Ashley Putman Serbin and the 1966 men's junior college basketball team, the first to ever reach the national tournament.

Serbin and the 1966 team will be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame the weekend of October 30-31 this year as part of Homecoming festivities at Cumberland.

WC's Powell commits to TNU

All-state softball player from WCHS --
Wilson Central softball standout Morgan Powell has verbally committed to Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. A member of the WCHS graduating Class of 2015, she will enroll at NCAA Division II Trevecca this fall.

Powell helped lead the Lady Wildcats to a record of 41-7-1 overall and the Class AAA state championship earlier this year in Murfreesboro as a pitcher / hitter.
