While the Club is still in the early phases of planning, due to Seay's familial obligations, she still plans for it to flourish in the future. I was contemplating all the "newness" of our Public Square at a recent Main Street conference. The lecture was on Creative Placemaking, one of the latest "it" topics for historic downtowns. Every day I receive emails on the current trends such as tactical urbanism, the X-factor, place economics and anything relating to "Millennials," that group of youngsters that is either going to save historic downtowns as we know them or be the ruin of the nation.

World War II veteran, farmer
LEBANON -- Robert Ray Speck, 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015 in the community in which he was born and raised, Taylorsville.

Born in the Taylorsville Community on June 16, 1923, Mr. Speck lived a long, adventurous life and was a veteran of World War II. He served his country as a U.S. Marine aboard the USS Indiana (BB-58), a South Dakota-class battleship, the third ship of the United States Navy named in honor of the 19th state.

The event is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at Mt. Juliet's Victory Baptist Church, 1777 Tate Lane.

WKRN 2 Meteorologist and native Wilson Countian Lisa Patton will serve as emcee.
