Registration closes Thursday -
Registration for 2015-16 season of Upward Basketball and Cheerleading at Lebanon First Baptist and College Hills Church of Christ will close Thursday, Oct. 1.

The league is made available for children in first through sixth grade. Player evaluations are required. Registration cost is $80 which includes jersey and shorts.

No. 9 Blazers convert big plays
VALDOSTA, Ga. - Ninth-ranked Valdosta State scored 29 points in the second quarter en route to a 56-22 victory over Cumberland Saturday at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium.

"We wanted to get pressure on their quarterback," said CU coach Donnie Suber. "When you do, your secondary gets put in a bind. We popped him a few times, but we wound up giving up a couple of big plays.

CU athletes win doubles title

Qualify for USTA/ITA nationals
GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Cumberland University tennis players Angelica Sepulveda and Tarsha de Souza swept through four matches to win the doubles title and Sepulveda lost in the singles final over the weekend at the ITA Southeast Championships.

With the doubles victory, Sepulveda and de Souza will now compete in the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships in Sumter, S.C., on October 15-18.
