FCS hosts Harding Academy
Only three Wilson County football teams remain alive as the TSSAA playoffs reach the second round. Mt. Juliet and Wilson Central will be on the road tonight in 6A while Division II-A Friendship Christian will be at home.

All state playoff games start at 7 p.m. local time.

Former Mt. Juliet head coach
A Wilson County educator / coach is among five new inductees into the Tennessee Football Coaches Association's Hall of Fame.

Inductees include Steve Brewer, Carlton Flatt, Benny Hammonds, Roger Perry and Ken Netherland.

The five will be honored Saturday morning, Dec. 5 at the Life Church in Cookeville during the TNFCA annual Hall of Fame breakfast.

FCS & MJHS eliminated
FRANKLIN -- Surprising Wilson Central took a commanding lead, then held off a furious Franklin rally to down the Rebels 21-20 in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs Friday in Williamson County.

Now 6-6 on the season, the Wildcats will advance to the third round Friday, Nov. 20 at Memphis Whitehaven a 39-21 winner over Mt. Juliet.

Bender enters Vandy Sports HoF

1978 Mt. Juliet High graduate
Cathy Bender, one of Mt. Juliet High's all-time basketball greats, has been elected to the Vanderbilt Sports Hall of Fame.

A 1978 graduate of MJHS and an all-state guard on the 1977 Class AAA state championship team, Bender was the first African-American woman to receive a full athletic scholarship at Vanderbilt. A record-setting point guard for Vanderbilt, Bender went on the set both single-season and single-game records for assists.
