Thank the good Lord for such a beautiful weekend. I was able to complete the construction of my new flower bed. I will be planting daffodils, tulips, crocus and hyacinth. There will be a special spot for some seeds that Melanie Kelley gave me before she left for east Tennessee.
County commissioners, Lebanon City officials and other supporters gathered Friday on the ground where - a year from now - the Wilson County Expo Center will stand.
Lebanon Chamber of Commerce and City of Lebanon staff decorated the city's Christmas tree Thursday afternoon in preparation of it's official lighting. The event will take place on the Lebanon Square at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The tree will feature ornaments made by local school students.
Wildcats' season ends at 6-7
MEMPHIS -- Host Whitehaven blew open a close 7-0 game with a 26-10 second quarter run on the way to an impressive 53-16 victory over Wilson Central Friday in the quarterfinals of the Class 6A football playoffs.
The Tigers improved to 12-1 on the season and will visit Ravenwood Nov. 27 with the winner moving on the the BlueCross State Championships in Cookeville.
LHS sweeps Antioch
LEBANON -- Down 11 with three minutes to play, Lebanon High's Devilettes staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Antioch 40-49 at Campbell Brandon Gymnasium. The win was the first at LHS for new coach Cory Barrett.
"We've just got to understand a little more what we need to do with the basketball," Barrett said. "We've got to be a little more deliberate. Now we did force some jumpshots in our press and we got the rebounds -- which helped us get back in the game."
